Week 4 posts / Editor Version: Pros & Cons
« on: August 26, 2020, 07:01:52 PM »
Here's my editor version of Pros & Cons: https://writing.fanfarevt.com/writer-in-motion-final-editor-version/

I'm pretty pleased with where it ended up, especially since it's not my usual genre.

Hello again :-)

Here's the link to the latest edit based on CP feedback: https://writing.fanfarevt.com/writer-in-motion-cp-edited-draft/ It's feeling a little cleaner, the pacing's smoothing out. Looking forward to the next round!

Hey there! I've wrapped up my self-edits *and* got my wordcount down below 1000. It's over at my blog: https://writing.fanfarevt.com/writer-in-motion-week-2-self-edits/ I'm SUPER excited to get into the CP rounds next  :-D

Here's my unedited draft: https://writing.fanfarevt.com/writer-in-motion-unedited-first-draft/

This is totally out of the norm for genre. Curse my pantser writing style. :D I've got some serious work to do now. Clean up, streamline, and...figure out the actual story. No biggie, right?!

Week 0 posts / My first impressions
« on: August 02, 2020, 01:59:04 PM »
I've copied over the first impressions I posted on my blog (original post)

My first impressions of the writing prompt photo were:

  • Wow, pretty.
  • That?s super remote. Looks relaxing.
  • And lonely.
  • But kind of easy, like, no responsibilities. Just be.
  • I?d totally just retire there someday. Can you imagine the sunsets? And the silence. So quiet.
  • I wonder how far it is to the grocery store?
  • Nobody would find me that far out there. Ahhh, peace.

So many directions I could go with this. An adventure story? A father bonding with his children on one last trip to his favorite remote camp? A daring escape? A portal story?!

I guess there?s only one way to find out?

Writer & Editor Bios / Amber Roberts - MG & YA Fantasy, Adult Rom-Com
« on: July 31, 2020, 11:18:45 AM »
Name: Amber Roberts
Preferred Pronouns: She/Her

Bio: I'm an introverted extrovert with more curiosity than one individual should contain. Hopelessly awkward, the inventor of the foot-in-mouth situation. I've got so many weird, random facts rattling around in my head, you should probably pick me for your trivia team. No, I won't help you win, but you'll learn a bunch of completely unrelated stuff while our score remains relatively flat. I'm an SEO copywriter by day, freelance web developer in my free time, and that totally cliche wanna-be author when the sun goes down. My characters never cooperate, plots thicken (and also leave holes behind), and my cup is usually half full (of Malbec, thank you). INFJ.

What type of stories do you write?
My absolute dream would be to publish a fantasy story for MG-aged kids who read at a higher level so the reading level and interest level match ? that would have been super nice to have when I was a kid! I've got one in the works, but I keep getting sidetracked by other projects.

What are you working on right now?
I'm working on an adult rom-com that I started as a joke. Somehow, now I'm in round 3 of revisions and it's giving me so much joy that I can't stop. My CP described it as "A super nerdy Sex and the City" and I am on board with that.
