From Prompt to Polished!
Ever wondered what your favorite stories looked like before they were revised, rewritten, and edited?
Writer In Motion is an inclusive, collaborative short story blog series that highlights the changes that happen through the revision process. Participating authors will share their progress week by week—from prompt through drafting, self-revisions, peer feedback, and then a final polish by a professional editor.
Participating in Writer In Motion is an opportunity to share your own process, see other works-in-progress, and be part of a supportive community of writers.
How does Writer In Motion work?

Monday 29th August: Registration opens for marginalized writers. Sign up form for marginalised authors can be found here.
Monday 12th September: Registration opens to the writing community.
Sunday 18th September: Prompt goes live
On Sunday 18th September, Writer In Motion will reveal the prompt via a blog post on this site, and on the Twitter hashtag #WriterInMotion.
You’ve seen the prompt, now it’s time to write your first draft and share it with others on your blog or our forum.
This week is focused on self-edits, or editing our own work.
During this week you’ll work with critique partners to polish and shine that story.
During this final week, your story will be critiqued by one of our amazing editors, and you’ll get to share the final, polished version.
The project is over, and it’s time to reflect on your story, what you learned, what you may have struggled with, and how writing a short story may have given you insight into yourself and your novel.
