Writer In Motion Code of Conduct

This code of conduct applies to Writer In Motion community members and team members, both online (including but not limited to email, Twitter (including direct messages), the forums, and other social media, and in-person (if applicable). By engaging in discussion on the forum and sharing links to your posts on the blog, you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct.

Authors retain all rights to their work. Participating authors and team members agree to maintain confidentiality with respect to all materials posted and will not share it with others without the author’s consent.

Writer In Motion is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, national origin, religion, color, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, romantic orientation, transgender status, gender identity, gender expression, and sex-stereotyping), age, disability (including mental and physical health, neurotypical status, body size, genetic information), parental status, marital status, political affiliation, socioeconomic status, physical appearance, or clothing.

We do not tolerate harassment of community members or team members in any form. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to the protected classes, calling attention to differences related to protected classes, questioning another author’s #OwnVoices status, belittling or intimidating statements, stalking, sustained disruption of another party’s communications, and unwelcome sexual attention. Harassment does not need to be recognized as unwanted or unwelcome by anyone other than the person being harassed.

Individuals asked to stop any offending behavior are expected to comply immediately. It is not the duty of a member of a protected class to explain why the conduct in question is offensive.

Individuals violating these rules may be removed from community spaces (Writer In Motion forums, Twitter group chats); may have their writing removed from the Writer In Motion website, forum, and social media accounts; and may be ineligible to participate in the blog project.

We encourage reports of all perceived incidents of harassment. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the Writer In Motion team via email at writerinmotionproject@gmail.com, the @WriterInMotion Twitter account, or one of the Writer In Motion team members directly (the list of team members is available at https://www.writerinmotion.com/team). Writer In Motion will maintain confidentiality throughout the investigatory process to the extent consistent with adequate investigation and appropriate corrective action. Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation of this policy and will be subject to investigation and actions Writer In Motion believe appropriate. If you believe your safety is threatened, please contact your local authorities immediately.

Any individual who has questions or concerns about these policies should speak to a team member.
