Are you ready to spice up your signature? Here's a few guidelines about signatures and how to create your own.

I. SIGNATURE GUIDELINES
Signature banners should be no wider than 600px and no taller than 200px. Here is the largest sample size:

All banner images need to be static--no animation, gifs or flash please. It distracts readers from the stories and journals.

Please keep the images content friendly to all readers.

Full signature (banner + links) should be no taller than 2-3 lines of text + banner height.

II. WAYS TO CREATE YOUR BANNER

A signature banner can be a fun way to get creative with your writer profile. If you've never used Illustrator, Photoshop or Gimp, here's an easy solution to get you started:

  • Canva.com is a great free site to help you create a banner.
  • Browse Pixabay and Unsplash for some great stock photo, or canva has their own stocks.
  • Add some text on top (maybe a little pizazz) and you're ready.  ;)

III. HOW TO ADD BANNER TO SIGNATURE.
The first thing you'll need to do is upload the image to your blog site, google drive, or a free site like Imgur.

Once you have the url, add the following code to the signature block in your profile:

Code: [Select]
[img]IMAGE URL HERE[/img]
Be sure to replace IMAGE URL HERE with your image url. Click 'save' at the bottom of the page.

III. HOW TO ADD A LINK TO SIGNATURE
Paste the following code into your signature:
Code: [Select]
[url=URL HERE]Write some text here[/img]
Be sure to replace URL HERE with your url and Write some text here with a word or description for your link. Click 'save' at the bottom of the page.

Announcements & Guidelines / Getting Started - A Quick How-to Guide
« on: September 14, 2019, 07:06:39 PM »
Hello and welcome to the Writer In Motion forum!

If this is your first time using a forum, or Simple Machines software, it's pretty easy and very versatile. Before you get started, we ask that you read our
General Guidelines. Here's a quick guide to help you get started:

I. CREATE AN ACCOUNT
To create an account, click on 'register'  in the top right corner. This will take you to a registration agreement. We encourage everyone to take a quick read. It's a pretty standard "be respectful to others."

Once you click 'I accept this agreement', you will be prompted to create your account.

II. TAKING YOUR FIRST STEPS
Once your account is created, you'll be taken to the homepage where all forums will disappear except two. Don't panic. This allows administrators a second line of defense against robots and spam accounts.

Please click on the Introduce Yourself forum and say hello. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, a few words or lines of text is all that's required. Once you click 'Post', the rest of the forums will unlock. To access them, click on the Home button at the top.

NOTE: Once you have posted your 'introduce yourself' post, the rest of the forums will appear on the main page. From here you are welcome to poke around, speak with others, and engage in the community.

III. SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT PROFILE
Now we're at the fun part, setting up your account profile. At the top of the forum, click on 'Profile'. Move your mouse over 'modify profile' and choose the fields you want to update. We recommend starting with your Account Settings.

Account Settings:
Here you can change your display name. Username will always remain the same, but the next box down (Name) will allow you to choose what you want others to see. Example: Username (TacoDinosaur) Name (Roars for Tacos).

Forum Profile:
Here you can upload your avatar (100x100), create a signature,  and add personal text.

You're all set! With your profile setup, you're ready to play. Go forth and write beautiful words.

Announcements & Guidelines / General Guidelines
« on: September 14, 2019, 07:00:11 PM »
Writer In Motion is a writer community that welcomes all writers and editors. Our forum is dedicated to the Writer In Motion Project, a six-week community event where writers use a short story framework to share insights from behind the curtain on how a novel is taken from prompt to polished.

Our forums are only open twice a year. We open the doors four weeks before a project event and close the doors to new user registrations one week after project completion. While the doors are closed, writer work is safeguarded and available to the public to read, and writers with an account may login anytime.

While our doors are open, we do keep a few general guidelines we ask everyone to adhere to.

I. RESPECT OTHERS
We ask that all users show respect toward other users. Be kind, engage, and think before you react. Please do not post comments that are defamatory, aggressive, or insulting to a culture, race, gender, or sexual orientation. If a disagreement arises between two writers, we ask that you use PMs (private messages) to discuss and resolve the issue or simply do not engage with one another. If a resolution can not be found, Administrators will be happy to moderate the discussion.

II. WRITE WITHOUT LIMITS
We are happy to see stories from sweet, endearing picture books to darker adult works filled with swearing and exsanguination. The only thing we ask is if your story is darker themed, please provide appropriate trigger warnings at the top of your post.

NOTE: Although we are open to stories tackling sensitive issues and darker themes, there are some subject matters that should not be posted. Things like child rape, attacks on modern cultures disguised as stories, or general hatred against a culture or identity will be removed. If you need further clarity, please feel free to reach out to our moderation team.

III. IMAGES
While we love to write without limits, we ask that any avatars or signature banners remain respectful. We love our saucy romances, but please don't use porn for your images. Save it for your words.

As our community grows, so will our guidelines. The administrative team will continue to create guidelines to be more specific about respect and tolerance, but if you feel we've missed a red-flag topic, feel free to reach out to us via private message.

Writer & Editor Bios / Create Your Writer or Editor Bio
« on: September 14, 2019, 05:51:20 PM »
Welcome Writer In Motion writer or editor!

If you plan to participate in Writer In Motion, we would love for you to create a writer profile. This will be an independent post or thread that belongs solely to the writer. We ask that other users kindly refrain from commenting in a writer's individual thread until it is complete.

Here's how to get started.

I. CREATE A NEW THREAD
Be sure to list your ?writer? name in the subject line and maybe what you write.

Example: Fifi McTaco - Contemporary Romance & Comedic Taco Heists

II. CREATE WRITER PROFILE
Here is a space where you can add as much or as little about yourself as you wish. If you have published books, you can list them in your profile. Here is a sample profile to help you get started:

Name: Fifi McTaco
Pronouns: She/Her

Bio: Fifi McTaco grew up with two fathers who were the equivalent of Harry & Lloyd become scientists. With experiments always gone wrong in her house, she retreated to the privacy of her own journals and stories to try and find a little (in)sanity in her chaotic world. Fifi writes contemporary romance with taco heists, and is currently represented by Burrito Buck @Longhorn Books.

What type of stories do you write?
I'm a contemporary romance author with three published books, several short stories and magazine articles, and I love to write about Tacos and how to steal them from your enemies.

What are you working on right now?
I'm writing a comedic rom-com about two Taco Truck owners at war on opposite corners of Main Street. Currently I'm comping it as YOU'VE GOT MAIL x
A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST.

My Writer In Motion Project:
Pour Some Hot Sauce On Me

Published Books:
Terry Taco Takes a Train

Connect With Me:

Twitter

If you need to copy and paste the sample profile to help you get started (complete with BB code), copy the text inside the code below and past into your new thread. Note: You are not required to use this format, it's just an example.
