Writer In Motion started out as an idea for writers to draft a short story from a prompt and show their entire revision process by blogging about it as they went. It was such a huge success, we’re now gearing up for our fourth season, and you’re invited to write along.
Step 1: Sign up for a professional edit
Our editors are industry professionals who have worked on numerous published books, including some published by award-winning authors. You can check out our editors here.
June 25th Signups for editor slots open to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, Disabled, Neurodiverse and any writer who identifies with a marginalized community.
July 2nd Signups open to whole writing community.
Step 2: Get your writing on
- Write a first draft based on the prompt to be released July 9th (no word count limit)
- Revise your draft multiple times based on feedback (revision drafts not to exceed 1000 words)
- Read and provide feedback for other writers’ stories
- Post each version as you revise and write a little something about your process each week (either on your personal blog or in our Forum)
- Post your final thoughts in the Week 5 wrap up (optional)
- Show your support for other writers by commenting on and sharing their work
